Le Premièr Jour

*Simply appreciating silence for now*

Well, the friggin’ sneezing fits just decided to kick in when I was at Merlion…went on for the rest of the day. Irritating!

So yea…that spoilt my day. Feeling like crap…had my meds, so gonna hit the sack now. Later!

Dilemma

Current Music: Goodbye (Air Supply)

Goonsey-love wanted a topic to discuss for "Ethical Dilemma" module…or something like that. Je was browsing through le journal from yesterday.

"What about single sex classes?" I said

"What about that?"

"In single sex classes, girls get less distraction as guys are usually the source of nuisance. On the other hand, co-ed prepares students for the real world…as in competition between men and women for jobs, time, attention and power."

"That’s a boring topic…what about racial jokes? You know, like how some people can take it and some can’t? And I can say something about my sis going for a Russell Peters comedy and he made a joke about….."

"And what do you intend to get out of this topic? To inject humour into your presentation based on his jokes…and then what? You need an objective before you start opening your mouth."

"Sigh…why do I have to do this module? Why can’t we just let things go with the flow, instead of having to think about the other side of the fence?"

That’s a dilemma right there, I’d say…

Yeap…Still Alive & Kicking!

Current Music: Leaving On A Jet Plane (Chantal Kreviazuk)

Had a lil’ shopping spree avec Mama Jams ce soir. Just explored the newly-revamped Robinsons at Centrepoint. Still a tad messy for me (for Mams, too)…seems like things were everywhere. Like they’ve got the linens on both fourth and fifth floors (or fifth and sixth?). Perhaps we’ll go and check it out again once the whole store is ready to take its flight…

Was browsing through kate spade when I came across an interesting site where netizens show what they usually have in their bags. I thought it was so cool that I came up with my version of "watsinmybag"! Well, I don’t usually lug around all of those stuff…just that I was unpacking from my short break…and that should explain my hiatus. Seems like flickr is more photographer-friendly as compared to what I’m currently on right now for my precious shots. Well, my flickr account is up…so just a matter of time till I upload my pics there. If only I’ve got the time ce semaine…so stay tuned for that one!

I actually had my travel journal (from 2005 Sri Lanka trip) with me when we went to town this evening. Tickled my funny bone when I reminicsed some of those times. Here’s an excerpt from the journal titled "Silly Stuffs":

1) "Why are the mosquitoes still attacking us even though we’ve taken Lariam?"

2) Someone reading out to the kids, "W…A…S…H…shampoo"

3) A: "B, you want beef or chicken?"

B: "Yea, I would love to have chicken…thank you" *sarcastically*

   (FYI, B is a vegan!)

4) "If shower simply means showering with just water, why did they invent shower foam?"

5) "Why not take a pig and throw it at them…or tell them that your favourite animal is the pig!"

Well, some of the above might not make any sense at all…just some mindless rambles when people are miles away from home, with an attempt at logic…heh!

Travailler nouveau à demain…bonne nuit!

Current Music: Cruisin’ (Gwyneth Paltrow & Huey Lewis)

Yesterday was fabulous! A victory of some sort pour moi. Let’s not go into details on this, shall we…lest it’s deffo gonna hurt some virago at heart. Hee…je suis tres heureux!! :o)

That Flying Dream….Again

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

I dozed off for about an hour…ended up with this dream:

It was nearing dusk, I was walking in the Zoo with Goonsey, and we were somewhere at Wild Africa..though it didn’t quite seem like the WA I know oh-so-well. I took out what seemed like a notepad, started scribbling something…dawned on me it was something like the First Light questionnaire I prepared for work. Well, basically it’s this thing you go around the Zoo with, finding answers to the questions to familiarize yourself.

So yea…I was jotting something down, and Goonsey said he wanted to do it, too…and out of thin air, another FIrst Light thingie appeared in his hand. He put me up to challenge to see who’s gonna complete it first. As I was about to make a move, he took off in front of me towards the direction of Children’s World…into the darkness. I was worried. I was about to do the same thing, when I thought, "Hey, I came up with this First Light…then I should know all the answers. Why bother going around the Zoo?". So I went off in the opposite direction. Where the Greater Kudus are supposed to be…in place of them were some dog-like creatures (no, not African Wild Dogs). At one glance, I thought they were roos…till I realised what they really were. Not really good with dog species…but a Labrador, I reckon? And those freaking dogs were allowed to free range (and they looked nasty!) as they inched closer towards me with every step I took. Well, of course I did the most rightful thing to do with dogs on hot pursuit right behind me! There there…and I started floating in the air, gaining altitude effortlessly with my arms in a light flapping motion. Guess what I saw from up there…a beach! Hehe…right opposite the Kudus/RITW. And lovely McDonald’s tower-like sign in the sky…then realised that the sign was floating there in the sky without any support from the ground! Very futuristic…or perhaps it was a blimp.

Reached the ground, ran into some of my colleagues (or ex-colleagues, rather)  and we made our way back to our hostel (??) together. Yvonne, the girl from PRA section of the business school (who’s also Kim’s good mate) was there, as well as this tomboyish girl (can’t recall her name) from Swiss Cottage. Went up to the second floor of the hostel and I saw a charcoal drawing of Yvonne on one of the doors. I told her, "You look like a real happy camper there!". Duh…we went to the first room, where the PRA people (Kim and the gang) were greeting us. Told them I had to call it a day, and went off to ma chambre.

The End

Interpretation of Dream

Goonsey Disappeared Into The Darkness

To dream that you cannot find someone in the darkness, signifies that you need to keep your temper in check. You have the tendency to let your emotions get out of control and lose your temper.

Chased By The Kangaroo-like Dogs

In particular, to dream that you are chased by an animal, represents your own unexpressed and unacknowledged anger which is being projected onto that animal. Alternatively, you may be running away from a primal urge or fear.

Flying

To dream that you are flying signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited.

Beach

To dream that you are looking towards the beach, suggests that you are returning to what is familiar to you. Alternatively, you may be adapting or accepting to the changes and circumstances in your life.

Hmmph!

Quel Jour…et Le Nombre 173!

Current Music: It’s Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday (Boyz II Men)

The song never fails to remind me of one of the episodes of Charmed…the one with the demise of Prudence (Shannen Doherty). ‘Cos that was the first time when I started liking the song…yea, just so you know…

Anyways, I was supposed to hang with the Hussy à deux heures et demie…but of course, things don’t always go as planned. Mama’s freak of an assistant decided to balik kampung. So guess who’s gotta come to her rescue…bien sur la Mighty Jobless One. There I was…toiling the day away…juste on my deuxième jour de la liberté. Sigh…oh well!

Revenir de magasin d’alimentation vers 5.00ish. Checked KTM webbie, and realised that there’re only 13 available bunks left for Friday evening! I mean who would’ve thought people travel in friggin’ Janvier?? I called them up to confirm, and the guy on the other line told me there’re 12 left. What…I thought 13?? I refreshed the webpage…true enough, some fatolslat just booked another bunk right under my nose! Sheesh…so I decided to zoom over to Tanjong Pagar for my much-needed Friday evening ticket.

Was at the bus-stop (yes yes…I don’t go cabbing around ALL the time), and Hussy messaged about hanging out while waiting for Poot. So we decided on meeting at the train station. I reached the nostalgic-looking station, looked for an ATM…"Oh well, they must’ve shifted it elsewhere," I thought and went to the ticket counter.

"Tiket untuk Jumaat malam eh…masa ada lagi tak?"

"Ada lagi"

"Ok…boleh pakai NETS?"

"Maaf, tak boleh ah"

"Oh man (under my breath)…Mastercard?"

"Takde"

"S**t (slightly audible)…dulu ada ATM kan kat sini?"

"Dulu ada Maybank…tapi dorang dah tak pakai lagi"

At this point, I felt like ripping my hair off the scalp in bunches! It was close to 8.30pm at Tanjong Pagar Station, with measly 10 bucks in my purse, no ATM in sight. And the nearest was about 10 to 15 minutes away…and I didn’t even understand how to get there. Thank God for the Hussy!! Haha…I was supposed to meet her, remember? So yea…she’s my saviour…love ya, babe! And I’ve got my ticket for 10.15pm train to KL Central on Friday evening! Woohoo!

So since she was supposed to pick Poot up at Lau Pa Sat, we decided on Suntec/Marina. Was at Burger King…had an encounter with yet another fatolslat of a BK server who kept getting the order wrong. Irritating!

Went on rambling about stuff under the sky (since there’s no more sun) over dinner (mine…and hers, a cuppa). She got a call from Jules, and that woman refused to talk to me on the phone since we’ve gotten over and done with the whole mushy goodbyes the other day. What the…hahah! I really hope we can make it for that East M’sian thingie after I’m all settled. That aside, Hussy came up with this thing about scrambling the number 173 (our order number) so that the combinations make sense to us! Here goes:

The Power of 173

1) Remove "7" = 13 (my fave number!)

2) Remove "1" = 73 (the year of her birth!)

3) Add "1" and "7", incl "3" at the back = 83 (the year of my birth!)

4) Add "7" and "3" = 10 (the month of my birthday!)

5) Add "1", "7" and "3" = 11 (the month of her birthday and date of my birthday!)

Hee…good way to pass those few minutes in an amusing way! Oh, did you know that Lisa, Jamie, I and Sim Hui (in chronological order, lol) have birthdates made up of only the numbers "1"s and "0"s??

Lisa and Syila: 11/10

Jamie: 11/01

Sim Hui: 01/10

Well, don’t ask me why…I just love all these thingies where you can link everything up.

And yes, I still keep seeing "540" popping up everywhere…just like how "648" used to appear everywhere. Man…if only there’s an explanation for this one…

Current Music: Only This Moment (Röyksopp)

Have you guys checked out this video on Yahoo!…this guy who did a self-reflection thingie. I personally think that it is well done…but then again of course I’d say that since I know jacks**t about video editing. Then you’ve got the regular smarty pants who commented on the ridiculous idea of maxing out his credit card by getting a plane ticket to Paris for his mum if he’s got only a minute on earth. Which is kinda true…you won’t even get to complete a transaction over the phone if you’ve got only a minute…hmmph!

What would I do? I’ll just drink a glass of chocolate milk and go! ;p

Got It!

Current Music: You Were Meant For Me (Jewel)

Uh…I’ve got it…as in how to change the date settings. I’ve got to post an entry. I’ll then have to save it as a draft, and get to change the date under "Posting Status" when I choose to publish the entry. So there!

Blog Settings

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Does anyone know how to change the settings for the date? I just realised that the dates of my posts are synchronised to US time, I think…well, whatever it is, it’s not GMT+8. So yea…just add on one day to the date of post…that is till I’ve found the solution.

Toodles!

So What’s Your Resolution…

Current Music: Baby Got Back (Sir Mix-A-Lot)

Ok, I know the whole New Year resolution thingie might’ve been over by now…for goodness sake, we’ve reached mid-month. But all of a sudden I feel like it’s New Year for me. All thanks to my love of procrastination. Yeap, I’m the kind who puts in 2007 refills for my fave Filofax on 12th January 2007…heh.

So I read about this guy who went on a non-spending binge for a WHOLE YEAR! All for the sake of some anti-consumerism thingamabob. But hey, if everyone’s into anti-consumerism, then our national GDP will plunge big time…just imagine the ripple effect. Companies not making much ‘cos people are not spending…that will result in job cuts…rate of unemployment will increase…FDIs might decrease…hmmph, I wonder if the last two will have direct impact on each other. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I miss Economics :s

Back to subjet of cet entry…I feel like trying out the binge for TWO MONTHS as of Fevrier. Not that I’m all for anti-consumerism…but I’m seeing it as a challenge. Well, gonna be a good thing for my jet-setting funding, too! So here goes:

1) No new items in February and March

2) Cutting down on the whole ’speaking b4 thinking’

3) Donate to the poor more often

4) No cabbing to travail for a month…to progressively add on the months subsequently

5) To be more environmentally responsible
