Homely or Homey?

Current Music: Give It To Me (Timbaland feat. Nelly Furtado & JT)

Munge and I were on the topic of grammatical errors and incorrect usage of vocabulary a couple of nights ago.

Well, I’m not saying that we’re speaking perfect English ALL THE TIME…otherwise the lil’ game won’t be all that fun anymore! The Rule: try your best to spot incorrect usage of words or grammar. Though of course you can’t possibly play this game with just about everyone. Like the other time when an ex-colleague was working on a report and I was just standing behind her, correcting just about every other paragraph. She got uber pissed and told me to get lost…sheesh, don’t blame me for having developed that ability since I always ended up as the editor-in-chief (ooh laa laa….hahah!) when we did projects in school.

Anyways, we’re on a mission to "catch" this one good buddy to make a flaw in English ‘cos she’s just so darn perfect that she’s like a walking dictionary AND zoology encyclopedia, all rolled into one! Though I’ve managed to spot her ONCE when she said that my uncle’s lifestyle was decadent. When I asked what she meant by that, she said that it’s something like "lavish". Well well, Cambridge Dictionaries Online states the definition as low moral standards and behaviour. Either she really used the word wrongly (Syila scores!), or she really meant it when she saw that The Oh-So-Great-Uncle of mine is leading the life of the rich and famous with his 20-seater dining room, police guarding his home 24-7, personal government executive vehicle at his disposal PLUS his own Benz. After all, extravagance simply doesn’t sit well with her.

D’accord…c’est toutes ce matin!
